We had quite a night at the January 2025 New Hanover County Board of Education Meeting. Eleven of us spoke during the Call to the Audience. Twenty-two supporters were in the audience wearing Love Our Children NC shirts and/or buttons.
We made the following asks:
To change policies 2120 and 4351
To release suspension data on a timely basis
To understand how suspensions harm children
To outline why it is important for children to stay in school
To ask for budget priorities,
To note the importance of compassion and caring, and
To understand that safety in school also means being emotionally and mentally supported.
